Marcus Tavernier shares six-word message after scoring in Middlesbrough’s win over Cardiff

Middlesbrough midfielder Marcus Tavernier has taken to Instagram to share a message with the club’s supporters after his side’s latest display in the Championship.

Tavernier helped his side secure a crucial victory in their showdown with Cardiff City last night by scoring the opening goal at the Riverside Stadium.

After being teed up by Folarin Balogun, the midfielder fired an effort past Bluebirds goalkeeper Dillon Phillips from the edge of the box.

Following the break, Middlesbrough managed to double their advantage thanks to Riley McGree’s deflected effort.

Luke Daniels made a good save to prevent Max Watters from giving Cardiff a lifeline in this game as the visitors ultimately failed to produce a comeback.

As a result of this victory, Middlesbrough moved up to seventh in the league standings.

Now only two points behind Sheffield United who occupy the final play-off spot, Boro will be determined to overtake Paul Heckingbottom’s side in the final two fixtures of the season.

Middlesbrough are set to take on Stoke City on Saturday before ending the regular campaign with a clash with Preston North End.

After his side’s victory over Cardiff, Tavernier opted to share a message on Instagram.

The Middlesbrough academy graduate posted: “Big push until the end now.”
