Marcus Rashford should say sorry – Ruben Amorim has dealt with situation correctly

Teddy Sheringham believes Marcus Rashford owes Manchester United an apology after revealing his desire for a "new challenge" away from Old Trafford.

Rashford, who has spent his entire career at United, has struggled to impress new boss Ruben Amorim. The 27-year-old was omitted from the squad for December's surprise victory over rivals City in the Manchester derby, which the Red Devils won 2-1.

In a subsequent interview with Henry Winter, Rashford suggested he was open to moving on and said: "For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United.

"That's me as a person. If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."

Amid interest from the likes of Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, and West Ham, Sheringham thinks Rashford should retract his comments and focus on regaining his place in the United team. The Champions League-winner backed Amorim's handling of the situation in an interview with BoyleSports (via The Mirror), who offer the latest Premier League odds.
