Marcus Rashford saga might have taken another twist as Manchester United training update given

Manchester United's first-team trained in cold conditions at Carrington on Wednesday.

United secured a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at the weekend and that performance against the Premier League's leaders has given fans hope for the second half of the campaign.

Ruben Amorim's side have the opportunity to build on that draw against Arsenal in the FA Cup third round this weekend and there will be a full week to prepare in training.

Amorim has reiterated the importance of having time on the training ground to drill his message into the players and the benefit of doing more work at Carrington was seen at Anfield.

So here are five things we spotted from Wednesday's training session in the cold...

Marcus Rashford was absent against Liverpool because he was unwell. He subsequently attended the funeral of Kath Phipps on Monday but wasn't pictured in training on Wednesday.

It's possible Rashford trained and a photograph wasn't taken of him, but it seems he wasn't involved and that would be interesting given the interest brewing in this January window.

Although Rashford was welcomed back into the squad against Newcastle because Amorim's squad was weakened due to injuries and suspensions, he didn't feature in that game.

It feels like he's played his final match for the club and it will be fascinating to see whether he's named in the squad to face Arsenal, as that will give a further clue about his future.

Winter crept in a few months back, but the temperature in Manchester has plummeted this week and there was snow scraped to the side of the pitch as United trained on Wednesday.

Sunday's game against Liverpool was in doubt due to the difficult weather conditions and supporters who are travelling to London this weekend will be hoping
