Fenerbahce confirm transfer stance on Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford

Fenerbahce vice-president Acun Ilicali has said they have "no interest" in signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford ahead of next Monday's transfer deadline amid reports linking them with his signature.

Rashford is in a race against the clock to leave Old Trafford after being frozen-out by United head coach Ruben Amorim. He has not featured in any of the Reds' last 11 games and has been omitted from the matchday squad ten times during that period.

Following Sunday night's 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, Amorim suggested he would rather play 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital than Rashford. The latter last played for the club on December 12.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a plethora of clubs in recent weeks, including the likes of Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan. Turkish club Fenerbahce have also been credited with interest in him but that has been dismissed by Ilicali, who also owns Championship club Hull City.

Appearing on Sky Sports, Ilicali said: "Actually, yesterday it was in the news that we are interested in him. I think Rashford is a fantastic player, I really like him.

"But at the end of the day, when you have some players in your team [who play in the same role] it is not logical to get two players in the same position which are much better than other players.

"What I will say is that these types of players need to play, play, play. If he comes, then one of our players wouldn't be able to play. When it came in front of us, unfortunately we said no for this transfer.

"There is nothing that we are interested in him. Of course, there are some rumours that spread. I can say very comfortably that we are not interested, but he is a good player."
