Marcus Rashford mocks media reports of a divide in Manchester United dressing room

Marcus Rashford has hit out at media reports of a dressing room divide at Manchester United, accusing reporters of inventing issues at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils picked up an important win on Tuesday night, beating Brighton 2-0 in the Premier League, bouncing back from recent struggles as they drew with Burnley and Southampton and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough.

With interim manager Ralf Rangnick struggling to find consistency in performances and results, there have been rumours of unrest in the United squad.

Reports emerged in Germany that there was even a divide based on nationality, with the senior English players opposed to Cristiano Ronaldo and his own allies.

Rashford has rubbished those suggestions, though, and blasted the source of the information.

Journalist from German publication Bild, Christian Falk, tweeted: ‘The English Players like Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford & Co are irritated that Ronaldo wants to lead the dressing room with his own clique. There is a risk of a split in the team.’

Rashford responded: ‘Are we just making it up as we go along now then? Please stop looking for divides.’

Cristiano Ronaldo has also hit out at the chat that goes on around Manchester United, posting a defiant message after he scored the opening goal in the win over the Seagulls.

‘Back on track!’ Ronaldo tweeted on Tuesday. ‘Nobody gives up and there’s only one way to get back on track: hard work, team work, serious work.

‘Everything else is just noise. Let’s go Devils!’
