Fred details mood in Manchester United dressing room amid claims of a divide in squad

Fred has moved to dispel the notion that there is a growing split in the Manchester United dressing room, labelling the claims as 'fake news.'

Although United finally returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Brighton on Tuesday, the bad run of form beforehand has seemingly increased tensions within Ralf Rangnick's side.

There has been repeated speculation and leaked reports of players being unhappy with the interim manager's methods in training and that there is a growing feud between Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Fred has become the latest player to deny the rumours.

"Our dressing room is really good,” the Brazilian midfielder told Sky Sports. “There's a lot of fake news and a lot of rumours surrounding it but it's great. We work together and we all have the same goals and objectives.

"It's not easy for the manager to keep everyone happy because everyone wants to play and we have so many good players. But we understand each other.

"We have developed harmony in the dressing room and I think that's the most important thing we have. We have maximum respect for each other in the dressing room."

Fred's comments come as Maguire denied claims that he and Ronaldo were 'embroiled in power struggle' over the captain's armband on Friday.

"I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another," he tweeted. "Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear.

"We’re united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone."

On Wednesday, Marcus Rashford also took to Twitter to rubbish claims he was 'irritated' by Ronaldo, saying: "Are we just making it up as we go along now then? Please stop looking for divides."
