Manchester will finally welcome some sunshine and soaring temperatures next week after what was the wettest July on record.

Official figures from The Met Office showed that Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside all had their wettest July on record - with more than twice the usual amount of July rainfall.

Amid heavy downpours and dramatic thunderstorms, the region battled a number of flood alerts, with streets flooded, cars left submerged and even a sinkhole opening up in the middle of the road.

But following a grim and damp July, Manchester can now finally look ahead to another taste of summer next week, with sunny conditions and temperatures as high as 25C according to forecasts by the Met Office.

The week will start off on Monday (August 7) with sunny intervals changing to cloudy by late morning. The conditions are predicted to remain dry throughout the day with highs of around 19C.

Conditions will be much the same on Tuesday (August 8). There is a small chance of rain in the morning, until around 10am, when conditions are due to be warm and overcast, with highs of 19C.

Sunny conditions are predicted throughout the day on Wednesday (August 9), with little chance of any rain. It will be partially cloudy with temperatures reaching 21C.

On Thursday (August 10), temperatures will soar to around 25C with sunny conditions for most of the day. There will be cloudy intervals and it may become overcast in the afternoon but will remain dry.
