Manchester United youngster Nathan Bishop hailed 'the best goalkeeper' with limitless potential

Mansfield Town right-back Elliott Hewitt has described on-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop as the "best professional" that he has ever seen and the "best goalkeeper" that he has ever played with.

The shot-stopper, who joined United two years ago from Southend United, joined the League Two side last summer in pursuit of regular first-team football. He has been an ever present figure for the Stags this season, starting all 32 of their league games so far.

Playing a key role in their current unbeaten run of 14 league games, dating back towards the end of November, Bishop has been excellent for Nigel Clough's side. He has kept nine clean sheets in the league and one in the FA Cup, which came when the Nottinghamshire outfit beat Sunderland 1-0 in the first-round.

He has proven to be an immensely popular figure at the One Call Stadium and was hailed by manager Clough following Friday evening's 2-1 triumph over Exeter City. And for Hewitt, Bishop ranks right at the very top for the players he has experienced playing with during his career.

"He's probably the best goalkeeper that I've played with, especially in terms of shot-stopping," Hewitt told the Stags' club website. "I think his potential is wherever he wants to take himself, but he is probably the best professional that I've ever seen as well.

"He's always the first in and the last out [at the training ground].

"He doesn't eat chocolate; he doesn’t drink alcohol. He's the perfect professional and hopefully he'll go right to the top."
