Manchester United youngster James Nolan signs first professional contract

Manchester United youngster James Nolan has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Nolan, who is just 17 years old, was born in Chorley and he joined the academy as a child. He's been handed a professional deal in recognition of his progress in the academy and he recently trained with the first-team.

It's understood Erik ten Hag takes an active role in deciding which academy youngsters train with the first-team.

Nolan wrote on social media: "Amazing feeling to sign my first professional contract with the club I’ve been with my whole life. Thank you to all my family and coaches who have made the dream possible."

The youngster is a natural right-back, but he played in multiple different roles for the Under-18s last season and he made a total of 26 appearances for Travis Binnion's side across all competitions.

Nolan played in every league game last term and played a key role as the U18s finished third in Premier League North table.

He's the latest academy product to sign a professional deal after Finley McAllister agreed terms.

United's Adidas home shirt is made up of the same colour of the city's iconic red rose and features a black collar. The collar also features a dash of both red and white, giving it a slick and modernised look.
