Manchester United youngster Dan Gore receives significant injury blow on loan

Manchester United loanee Dan Gore could be ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury.

The Manchester Evening News revealed the initial assessment of Gore's injury indicated he would be out for a month and he's believed to have picked up the problem in a narrow defeat against Portsmouth on January 27, which meant March was earmarked for his return.

However, Gore has continued to be absent from Port Vale's squads and following comments from manager Darren Moore, sources have confirmed he could miss the rest of the campaign.

Speaking at the weekend, Port Vale boss Moore said: "With Dan Gore, that's an ongoing, persistent problem. Whether we feel he's going to be back for any part of this season, we're not too sure.

"It's not looking too good for him at the moment and it's a persistent one that we'll still monitor."

Port Vale was seen as an ideal place for Gore to continue his learning and accelerate his development, but his bad fortune with injury means he's played just 52 minutes.

Club sources have told the MEN the injury is not serious but have conceded it's a shame the issue has prevented Gore from making a mark during his first loan away.

Gore spent the first half of the season around United's first-team squad and was handed his senior debut in September against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

United gave Gore a new contract last summer and he was brought on the first team's tour of the United States, which saw him receive an opportunity to play against Wrexham.
