Manchester United winger Antony breaks silence with overnight interview after abuse allegations

Antony insists he does not fear for his Manchester United future as the Brazilian winger vows to clear his name against allegations of abuse made against him.

The winger has been the subject of several allegations from Gabriela Cavallin, who spoke with Brazilian website UOL on Monday detailing the claims, which include photographs and screenshots of messages. The influencer and DJ's allegations are under investigation by Greater Manchester Police and police in Brazil.

United released a statement on Wednesday acknowledging the claim and saying that they were awaiting further information. The statement said: "Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting enquiries. Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments. As a club we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact of these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse."

Then, on Thursday, two more women came forward with allegations of abuse in the Brazilian media. Antony denies any wrongdoing.

Antony was withdrawn from the Brazil national team for their matches against Bolivia and Peru, and in a tearful interview back in his home country, the winger said: "It's [his future] something that doesn't cross my mind. I know the truth and it will come out.

"I know many are butchering me, but the truth always comes out. United are on top of the whole inquiry. They're following up and they're going to keep up."

Antony also spoke out against domestic violence in general, vowing to clear his name.

"I don't support this ever," he said. "It's totally wrong, 100 per cent wrong.
