Manchester United winger Amad shows true colours vs Brighton after tragic announcement

Amad was included in Manchester United's matchday squad for the trip to Brighton just hours after he shared some tragic personal news.

United face the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium in their first away clash of the Premier League season. Erik ten Hag's side go into the fixture on the back of a 1-0 win over Fulham last weekend and will be looking for another three points this time around.

Amad was named in the starting line-up for the victory over Fulham last week. And the 22-year-old was once again included in the starting line-up for the Saturday lunchtime kick-off on the south coast

The decision by Ten Hag to start Amad comes after the United forward announced the tragic news of his brother's mum's passing. Amad clarified the news on social media on Friday night, after there was confusion that his biological mother had passed away.

"Rest in peace Mum, may Allah forgive you," Amad initially wrote on Snapchat.

Clarifying his announcement, the United forward later wrote on X: "Guys I wanted to clarify. She is not my biological mother, she is my brother's mother and my sister. May she rest in peace."

Amad was selected to start on the right wing by Ten Hag, putting the tragic news behind him to turn in a solid performance for his team. Marcus Rashford started on the left and club captain Bruno Fernandes supported Mason Mount through the middle. United went into the game without Victor Lindelof, Leny Yoro, Rasmus Hojlund, Tyrell Lamacia and Luke Shaw for today's fixture due to injury.
