Manchester United vs Omonia predictions for Europa League fixture

Manchester United made a slow start to their Europa League campaign with a defeat to Real Sociedad, but are fully up and running now with back to back wins away against Sheriff and Omonia Nicosia.

They will now face a home fixture against Omonia, with the Cypriot side heading to Old Trafford hoping to avenge defeat last Thursday after United came from behind to beat Neil Lennon's side. They have been backed to repeat their win this week, with a resounding 83% chance of victory predicted.

The prediction comes courtesy of ABC News' FiveThirtyEight, which uses an algorithm to predict teams' chances in various sports fixtures and competitions. They have given The Red Devils a 13% chance of drawing Thursday night's fixture along with a slim 4% of an Omonia win.

Meanwhile, United have been given a 5% chance of winning the competition outright, however, with it yet to be established which teams will be dropping down from the Champions League this is bound to change when this is finalised. Despite this, both Barcelona (11%) and Ajax (9%) have been backed to finish third in their Champions League groups and enter the Europa League knockout stages,

However, there is one clear favourite for the competition right now, with United's Premier League rivals Arsenal having been given a 15% chance of emerging victorious in a competition which they have never won. Of the teams already in the competition's group stage, Real Sociedad (5%), Rennes (4%) and PSV (4%) are all rates as among the most favoured sides.
