Manchester United 'very interested' in Barcelona defender and other transfer rumours

Manchester United are gearing up for their FA Cup quarter-final this weekend against Liverpool.

United host their bitter rivals at Old Trafford in the quarter-final of the prestigious cup competition. The FA Cup remains United's most realistic chance of earning any silverware from what has been an underwhelming campaign so far.

Erik ten Hag's side are sixth in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of the top-four spots. United claimed a 2-0 win over Everton last Saturday to close the gap on the Champions League qualifying spots, thanks to Tottenham Hotspur's 4-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Despite there being plenty of fixtures left to play for United this season, there is already attention being driven towards the summer transfer window. The Reds are being linked with several potential new signings, with the latest rumours concerning a centre-back and full-back.

According to Spanish news outlet Sport, United are showing an interest in Barcelona defender Jules Kounde. It has been claimed that the Reds are joined by Chelsea in adding Kounde their list of possible targets for the summer transfer window.

The report claims that United are "very, very interested" in signing Kounde this summer. It is not stated, though, what transfer fee Barca would demand for Kounde when the window opens.

Kounde joined Barca in the summer of 2022 from Sevilla in a deal reportedly worth €55 million (£47 million). The centre-back has since gone on to become a key member of the La Liga giants' defence, making 75
