Manchester United unconcerned former Man City employees could be affected by Premier League ruling

Manchester United are not concerned that any of their former Manchester City employees will be affected by the outcome of the hearing into the Premier League's 115 charges against the champions.

United head-hunted former City chief football operations officer Omar Berrada, who became the club's new chief executive in July. Jason Wilcox took over as United's technical director in April, having worked at City's academy between 2012-2023.

City were charged with breaking financial fair play rules over a nine-year period between 2009-2018 and the Premier League hearing began last month. City have denied all charges.

Berrada, 46, joined City in 2011 and held four roles before his appointment as their chief football operations officer in 2020. He was their director of partnership sales from September 2013 to January 2015 and Berrada was pictured celebrating City's appeal to successfully overturn a two-year ban from European competitions in June 2020. Sources say there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Berrada.

The Premier League and City were at loggerheads again last week over City's legal challenge against Associated Party Transaction rules. City had some complaints upheld as the tribunal deemed two aspects of APT to be unlawful.

However, the Premier League said the tribunal "endorsed the overall objectives, framework and decision-making of the APT system".

Berrada appeared at the employment tribunal of former City left back Benjamin Mendy on Monday. Berrada faced a 90-minute cross-examination and denied the claim City had offered to pay Mendy £11million in unpaid wages if he was acquitted.
