Manchester United U18s vs Derby LIVE FA Youth Cup updates amid JJ Gabriel chance and Kai Rooney hint

Manchester United Under-18s take on Derby County in the FA Youth Cup fourth round tonight.

United entered the competition in the third round, beating Peterborough in their opening game at Old Trafford last month. The U18s are a talented crop and will have high hopes of going all the way.

Darren Fletcher, manager of the U18s, has the talent at his disposal to lift the trophy, with the likes of JJ Gabriel, Kai Rooney, Louie Bradbury and Yuel Helafu all ready to contribute.

And the competition rules state Fletcher will be able to call upon academy players who were under the age of 18 at midnight before the end of August, which gives United added strength.

Bendito Mantato, Godwill Kukonki, Amir Ibragimov, Chido Obi and Jim Thwaites are just some of the players who represent the Under-21s but who are eligible to play in the Youth Cup.

The youngster scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against Peterborough, who certainly did not roll over after falling behind at Old Trafford.

Carrick is set to attend tonight's game, his second appearance to support the academy in a week.

"My message of support is that I'm coming along to watch and I'm excited. I was lucky enough to play and win the FA Youth Cup when I was young at West Ham," he told MUTV.

"It's such an important competition, especially for this club. Young players, Old Trafford under the floodlights, feeling what it means, a bit of expectation.
