Manchester United turn attention to Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot

Manchester United are pursuing a move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as a possible alternative to Frenkie de Jong as the attempt to sign the Barcelona star falters.

The Athletic report that the Red Devils have turned their attention to the 27-year-old who has just one year to run on his contract in Turin.

However, United must decide whether to go full steam head for the Rabiot deal while still holding out hope for De Jong, or wait for the situation with the Dutchman to resolve itself before trying to snap up the Frenchman.

De Jong wants to stay at Barca and the club say they want to keep him, but they are keen for the midfielder to take a pay cut, which he is yet to agree to.

The Red Devils are ready to pounce if the 25-year-old decides to leave the Camp Nou, but have now looking at other options, with Rabiot one of their preferred candidates.

The central midfielder has been a regular in the Juve side since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, making 129 appearances for the Old Lady, winning both Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

This came after making 227 appearances for PSG, while he has won 29 caps for France, so he would bring plenty of top level experience to Old Trafford if they can persuade him to join Erik ten Hag’s side, with personal terms still to be agreed.
