Manchester United transfers news LIVE Man United vs Tottenham reaction plus Cristiano Ronaldo updates

Manchester United beat Tottenham 3-2 in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

It was a game that promised to have huge ramifications on the race for top four. United moved back up to fourth in the table after securing the three points, however, Arsenal, who have four games in hand over the Reds, remain favourites to finish in the top four.

Regardless, the result was the perfect response from United after the Manchester derby defeat. Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in the match after being absent last weekend and that was also the ideal response from the player on an individual basis.

"It was a beautiful game and a beautiful reaction from us," Pogba said.

"We hurt them at the right times and Ronaldo did what he does best. He has never been a problem. You have the best striker in history in our team, he cannot be a problem. Today the performance from him and all the team was very brilliant."

Manchester United fans once again hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest of all time after seeing him break yet another record in his phenomenal career.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner brought up another milestone in his career as he broke the FIFA record for the most goals in competitive matches in football history. Having equalled Josef Bican’s record of 805 earlier on against Tottenham, Ronaldo then went on to surpass the mark with his 806th competitive goal.

Having been a doubt to face Spurs in the week leading up to the game, Ronaldo wasted no time in marking his return to the side in spectacular fashion. He gave United the lead with a brilliant early strike, thundering the ball into the top corner from 25 yards.
