Manchester United transfer news LIVE team news ahead of Leicester City, Cristiano Ronaldo latest

Manchester United are back in action in the Premier League today, but they look as though they will be without their usual talisman up front.

United turn their attentions back to their battle for fourth following the international break as they take on Leicester at Old Trafford this evening, although Cristiano Ronaldo looks likely to miss out.

The 37-year-old was absent from the squad on Friday night as the players checked in at The Lowry Hotel ahead of today's game, although Ralf Rangnick gave no indication the Portuguese superstar was injured in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Should Ronaldo miss out, it will leave Rangnick with a decision to make as to who leads his attack, with Edinson Cavani also out injured. One option could see Bruno Fernandes playing as a false nine again, with the 27-year-old looking to top off a fine week after guiding his country to World Cup qualification, before signing a new deal to keep him at Old Trafford until 2026.

One option assuming Ronaldo won't be available would be for Bruno Fernandes to play as a false nine again, as he did against Manchester City.

The 27-year-old will be looking to cap off a fine week, having fired Portugal to qualification for the World Cup with two goals against North Macedonia on Tuesday.

And he marked his return to Old Trafford by putting pen to paper on a new deal which keeps him at United until 2026, with the option of a further year.

There is so much more that I want to achieve here, and I know that is the same for the rest of the squad and staff. More than anything, we want to give the fans the success that they deserve.
