The last round of international fixtures have now been completed and Manchester United's galavanting stars will soon return to Carrington ahead of Saturday's return to action against Leicester City.

Meanwhile, United's hunt for a new manager goes on and after Luis Enrique ruled himself out of the running on Monday he was seemingly joined by fellow Spaniard Julen Lopetegui, the current Sevilla manager, on Tuesday.

Lopetegui has been under consideration to manage United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November but the Spaniard has said there is 'no doubt' he will remain at Sevilla next season.

"The [speculation], I can't help it," Lopetegui told El Chiringuito. "I am where I want to be. Continue on the Sevilla bench next season? I have no doubt."

Cristiano Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, pushed for Lopetegui to take over at United in the wake of Solskjaer's dismissal.

The United pair were up against North Macedonia in a 2022 World Cup qualifier and wasted no time in taking the lead. A sublime one-two between the club and international teammates saw Ronaldo play in Fernandes, who found the back of the net with a composed finish. The duo celebrated together as a sign that they can work together.
