Manchester United transfer pattern hints at reasons behind mass exodus

Manchester United are not holding back as the transfer deadline draws ever closer, desperate to finalise their squad before 11 PM. After that, the dust will momentarily settle on the Women’s Super League just weeks before the 2023/24 season gets underway on October 1.

All in all, United have done well to claw talent away from top clubs worldwide, and they’ve had to due to the unsettling amount of departures over the summer months. There is a hint of neglect surrounding Leigh Sports Village of late, it seems as if United have simply let go of young, aspiring talent and instead focused solely on attracting game-changing players, in a blinkered fashion.

I could be wrong, but to have that many unhappy personnel step aside at once raises eyebrows. The talk of last year’s devastating max exodus of Manchester City has been completely blown out of the park - okay not all are key players but they could’ve been. Had they been given half the chance and some game time, they could've been game-changers in Red, and stayed.

United jostled with Liverpool for World Cup Golden Boot winner Hinata Miyazawa, and won. But that’s not all, Skinner has prized Gabby George away from Everton’s grasp prying the 26-year-old back to her academy roots in a Red shirt - in a bid to desperately fill the Ona Batlle-shaped hole at right back.

Talk of the town? Mary Earps is staying put. Wonderful for fans and aims for a new season but United are damned if they do, damned if they don't, when it comes to the FIFA Best ‘keeper.

See, selling her in this summer window to Arsenal means a big cheque but proves they are not
