Manchester United transfer news RECAP John Murtough made Sergino Dest 'decision' and fixture news

Manchester United were due to be in action today but for well-documented reasons the game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park was postponed on Friday.

The United Kingdom is in a period of mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and all Premier League fixtures were put on hold.

United will travel to Moldova to face Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League on Thursday and are scheduled to play Leeds at Old Trafford in a week's time in their final game before the international break.

There were concerns that next weekend's round of Premier League games might be cancelled due to a lack of policing resources for matches ahead of the late Queen's funeral on Monday, September 19, but a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police on Saturday eased that concern.

Although the Metropolitan Police is only responsible for policing in Greater London, its stance indicates resources will probably be available to police matches elsewhere in the country,

The statement said: "Whether matches go ahead is a matter for the football authorities. If fixtures do take place, the Met will work with the relevant partners and ensure that appropriate policing plans are in place."
