Manchester United transfer news LIVE Ralf Rangnick reaction and James Garner Man Utd latest

Manchester United begin the week without Ralf Rangnick following yesterday's surprise announcement.

United confirmed on Sunday that Rangnick has left Old Trafford for good as he gets ready to manage Austria for the first time on Friday as they face Croatia. The German joined the Theatre of Dreams in November following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It was thought that the 63-year-old would take on a new consultancy role at the end of his interim spell, however that has not come to pass. Rangnick leaves having presided over United's worst ever Premier League season.

Away from Old Trafford, James Garner helped Nottingham Forest gain all the headlines in the play-off final on Sunday as they beat Huddersfield Town 1-0 at Wembley Stadium. Garner's cross just before half time was turned in by the Terriers' Levi Colwill for what was the only goal of the match.

Christopher Nkunku has refused to rule out the prospect of leaving RB Leipzig this summer amid ongoing links connecting him with a move to Manchester United.

The Frenchman — who scored a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium last September — has enjoyed a truly outstanding campaign for Leipzig this term, scoring 35 goals and grabbing 20 assists in all competitions. His tally of 55 direct goal contributions means that he has averaged more than one goal involvement every game, making 51 appearances.

With 20 of his 35 goals scored in the Bundesliga and seven of them in six Champions League appearances, it has been by far the most productive and encouraging season of his career to date.
