Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez have been introduced to their Manchester United teammates after getting down to business on the training ground at Carrington for the first time. Both recruits missed out on the pre-season tour to Thailand and Australia this month.

However, they have now laced up their boots alongside the squad for what is an action-packed week. United play two friendlies over the weekend as well as one behind closed doors in midweek.

Behind the scenes, there is plenty happening at Old Trafford and beyond with United continuing to pursue Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, while Ajax have re-opened to door for Antony despite suggestions the Amsterdam giants do not have to cash-in on the Brazilian this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo has, meanwhile, touched down for crunch talks over his future. He was spotted for the first time this summer at Carrington alongside super agent Jorge Mendes.

United have been offered hope in their quest to sign Ajax forward Antony this summer.

Antony, 22, was picked out as a target for Erik ten Hag after the manager swapped Amsterdam for Old Trafford, and the Dutchman has already managed to do business with his now-former employers.

Here is what Ajax technical manager Gerry Hamstra told Voetbal International;

I assume that no-one leaves this core anymore. You can never say never and I have learned that by now. But we also talk about it with the players and have conversations, also the boys who may have a wish to leave. Ajax players are drawn, that is logical.
