Jon Dadi Bodvarsson on Bolton Wanderers 'home', season aims, strikers & contract state of play

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson says being at Bolton Wanderers feels like a 'home club' to him and his family and believes Ian Evatt will have a welcome headache this season when it comes to picking striking options.

Bodvarsson arrived in the January transfer window from Championship side Millwall on an 18-month deal. He was among several success stories in the second half of the campaign for Wanderers.

The Iceland international scored seven goals in 21 games for the Whites last campaign. Now, all focus in upon the upcoming campaign.

Bodvarsson is part of a competitive striking department at Wanderers. Dion Charles, Amadou Bakayoko, Dapo Afolayan and Elias Kachunga are among the other options available to Evatt.

Over the course of the upcoming campaign, Bodvarsson is aiming to get into double figures in terms of goals. But he believes it is a good thing to have competition for a place in the team as it keeps a player on their toes as he reflected on loving life at Wanderers.

He said: "I always try not to go too far ahead of myself and you can’t really control how many you get in the end. The standard is double figures, so that is the first thing.

“I think we have a lot of different attacking options. Not everyone is the same, and I think the gaffer will have a headache because every one of those players is capable of scoring goals.

“In every position you have a player breathing down your neck to take your place. It keeps you on your toes.

“Everyone is competitive but it is healthy. There is a striker’s union just like the goalkeepers.
