United manager Erik ten Hag has identified Adrien Rabiot as an 'important target' for the summer, having already made contact with the Frenchman who could arrive on a free, according to L'equipe.

The Reds were linked with Rabiot last summer, but were unable to find an agreement which would see them pay Juventus for his services. However the 28-year-old has run out the final few months of his contract at Juventus and will become a free agent on June 30.

As such, Ten Hag is said to have already made contact with Rabiot after identifying him as a shrewd signing on a free.
