Manchester United transfer news LIVE Man Utd vs Copenhagen reaction plus Andre Onana latest

What a night at Old Trafford as Manchester United scraped their way to three vital Champions League points.

Having struggled to make chances against a resolute Copenhagen side, United finally took the lead in the second half when Harry Maguire stooped to head home Christian Eriksen's superb cross. The Reds looked set to see out the win, only for Scott McTominay to concede a penalty at the death.

Substitute Jordan Larsson stepped up but was denied by a brilliant Andre Onana save. The stop proved to be the last action of the game as Erik ten Hag's men recorded their first Champions League win of the season.

Before United's victory last night, the club paid tribute to the great Sir Bobby Charlton in their first home game since the sad announcement of his passing. Ten Hag, Dan Gore and Alex Stepney followed a lone piper onto the pitch ahead of kick-off, with a wreath laid in the centre circle. Players and staff once again wore black armbands as a mark of respect.

It could be a save that kickstarts Andre Onana's United career.

Erik ten Hag has revealed Steve McClaren gave the shot-stopper an instruction before Copenhagen took their penalty on Tuesday night - an effort that Onana superbly batted away in the final minute of the game.

Diogo Dalot

Another sloppy performance going forward
