Manchester United transfer news LIVE Man Utd behind-closed-doors friendly reaction plus Pavard latest

It's only Wednesday and already Manchester United have two wins to their name this week.

Erik ten Hag's charges got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start on Monday with a nervy 1-0 win over Wolves, with Raphael Varane's header securing the three points.

United then made it two wins in two days as they beat Everton in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday. Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek, Hannibal Mejbri and Dan Gore were among those to feature, with Anthony Martial making his first appearance for the club since the final league game of the 2022/23 season.

An own goal and a second-half strike from McTominay saw United secure a 2-0 win. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Arnaut Danjuma, Jarrad Branthwaite, Ben Godfrey and Vitalii Mykolenko all played for the Toffees.

Away from the pitch United are still on the lookout for reinforcements with just 16 days to go until the transfer window closes. Amadou Onana and Sofyan Amrabat have both been linked with the club as Ten Hag assesses his options in midfield, while Benjamin Pavard has been touted as a possible replacement for Maguire. However, with Maguire's West Ham switch stalling, could Pavard's hopes of a move also be over?

Pavard is said to want to swap Bayern for United, though Erik ten Hag may be forced to stick with the options currently available to him.

As reported by MEN Sport yesterday, Maguire's move to West Ham has stalled after the two clubs agreed a £30m fee.
