Manchester United transfer news live Joshua Zirkzee deal 'close' as pre-season preparations begin

Manchester United's players will start reporting back to Carrington today for the start of pre-season training.

Players are expected to start returning to the club's training base this morning in preparation for the forthcoming campaign. United will get their pre-season preparations up and running next Monday, facing Rosenborg in Norway.

Manager Erik ten Hag will be hoping to add to his squad in the coming weeks. The transfer window has been open for almost a month and United are yet to add fresh blood to their ranks.

However, it is understood the club is hopeful of getting new signings through the door in the near future, with Dutch duo Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee attracting a lot of attention. According to reports over the weekend, the Reds are 'close' to wrapping up a deal for the latter.

Elsewhere, United remain keen to cut their cloth this summer and know they need to become proactive in the seller's market. Both Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood are among those who could be sold.

The former Bayern Munich star's impressive club form earned him his first senior call-up for the Netherlands, making his international debut off the bench in their 2-1 Euro 2024 quarter-final victory against Turkey on Saturday.
