Manchester United are edging closer towards ending their search for their next permanent manager by appointing Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Ajax are expecting Ten Hag to leave the club and take over at Old Trafford ahead of the start of next season. He was interviewed for the job just over a fortnight ago and is the club's preferred candidate to take charge this summer.

The Dutchman will be tasked with overseeing a summer of transformation if all goes to plan and he secures the job, meaning he will have the task of overseeing the beginning of a new dawn. Beyond the expected arrival of Ten Hag, United are also putting plans in place for the summer transfer window.

Again, as revealed by the Manchester Evening News, United are working on a deal to sign Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips. The Reds are in desperate need of fresh faces in midfield, especially on the defensive side of the operation.
