Manchester United transfer news LIVE Casemiro and Garnacho latest plus Southampton draw reaction

Manchester United were held to a point on Sunday by relegation-threatened Southampton.

Though it ended goalless, there were plenty of incidents in an entertaining match. Casemiro was dismissed after catching Carlos Alcaraz on the follow-through of a tackle, United were denied what appeared to be a clear penalty and both teams hit the woodwork.

Casemiro's dismissal could prove costly for United because it's his second red of the season he will be suspended for four games, meaning he will miss the FA Cup tie with Fulham as well as Newcastle, Brentford and Everton in the league.

Alejandro Garnacho also had to go off with what appeared to be an ankle injury and left Old Trafford on crutches but Erik ten Hag is optimistic it won't be serious.

United's attentions will now turn to Europe ahead of facing Real Betis in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday.

The youngster attempted to continue and he returned to the pitch, but he was eventually substituted off with a minute of normal time remaining. He then headed straight down the tunnel and left the stadium on crutches.
