Manchester United told Harry Kane transfer depends on Antonio Conte future

Manchester United have been told that their hopes of signing Harry Kane hinge on the future of Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane played a pivotal role in Spurs' 5-1 victory over Newcastle on Sunday, despite not scoring. The win lifted Spurs into the last Champions League place, three points ahead of United in seventh.

Tottenham's form has improved massively since Conte arrived at the club. However, rumours have persisted that the Italian could leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in search of a new challenge.

According to Spurs legend Jermain Defoe, Conte's decision over his future will have a big say on whether Kane decides to stay at the club. He explained on Sky Sports' Super Sunday: "I think so. As players, you talk about winning trophies and playing at top clubs under top managers. Conte has come here and now he’s playing under a top manager that’s won leagues and titles.

"Kane is in a situation now where he’ll probably be speaking to the manager asking if he's staying or going." Kane has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer as United look to replace Edinson Cavani whose contract expires at the end of the season.
