Manchester United 'to sign only one' of Antony or Cody Gakpo and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly likely to be able to 'only sign one' of either Antony or Cody Gakpo this transfer window.

According to The Telegraph, United are currently pursuing both Gakpo and Antony ahead of the transfer window closing in less than two weeks' time. However, it is thought that the club will not have the budget to be able to sign both players ahead of the September 1 deadline.

The Ajax manager recently had his say over the player's future after Antony was left out of the squad that played against Sparta Rotterdam due to the winger not being in the right frame of mind to be involved. The future of Gakpo may well be decided this Wednesday when PSV play Rangers to confirm which club gets Champions League football next season, something the 23-year-old has hinted as being a deciding factor over his future.

Elsewhere, United's signing of Casemiro has reportedly been delayed due to issues with the player obtaining a work permit.

According to The Athletic, Erik ten Hag's plans of unveiling the player at Old Trafford for their match against Liverpool have hit a snag. The player will not be eligible in time to play against Jurgen Klopp's side as the process to secure the Brazilian midfielder a visa continues.

Casemiro will now seemingly be set to make his debut for Ten Hag's side next Saturday when they take on Southampton at St Mary's Stadium. The Brazilian's first Old Trafford appearance is likely to come on Sunday 1 September, against Arsenal, where he will hopefully be able to show the fans how he has reinforced the club's midfield ahead of a visit from Mikel Arteta' side.
