Manchester United target former Arsenal man as David de Gea replacement and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are hoping to sign Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny during the summer transfer window - according to reports - as they consider replacements for David de Gea.

Speculation over De Gea and his Old Trafford future is at fever pitch right now. He only has three months to run on his contract as key figures behind the scenes attempt to tie him down to a longer agreement.

However, as yet there has been no breakthrough in that regard with the long-serving Spain international. It means United have to be open-minded moving forward.

Reports from Italian publication Tutti Mercato point to interest in former Arsenal goalkeeper Szczesny as he potentially eyes-up a return to the Premier League next season. He had nine years with the north Londoners between 2008 and 2017 before signing for the Italian giants for €18million at that stage.

Szczesny, 32, is soon to enter the final season of his deal in Turin and Juventus are thought to want to sell as they could risk losing him for nothing the following summer. In addition to playing 205 games for Juventus in six years, the 6ft 4in stopper has also been capped 72 times for Poland.

Elsewhere, movement in the Bundesliga has given United a timely boost in their proposed chase to snap-up Jeremie Frimpong when the market reopens. Frimpong, 22, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford amid question marks over current right-backs Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
