Manchester United takeover news LIVE Sir Jim Ratcliffe 'deals' Erik ten Hag blow plus Newcastle reaction

Manchester United saw their encouraging run of Premier League form come to an end with a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United last night.

Erik ten Hag's side were well beaten at St James' Park on another dismal away-day against top-half opposition. Anthony Gordon eventually got the winner on 55 minutes but the Magpies could have been ahead long before.

United resolved to create a few half-chances towards the final minutes, with substitute Antony seeing a goal disallowed after the ball was adjudged to have hit the offside Harry Maguire. After the result, Ten Hag addressed poor performances from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, the latter of whom he was visibly frustrated with during the game.

On the takeover front, reports have suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe will opt against wholesale changes when the January transfer window opens. The INEOS chief looks set to take control of footballing matters at the club once his 25% stake is ratified.

And regarding that transfer window, reports are continuing to surface regarding United's interest in Serhou Guirassy. The 27-year-old has 16 goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances for Stuttgart and could be available for just £15million.

United made the worst possible start to the December schedule last night, losing 1-0 to Newcastle United at St James' Park.

With that said, here is a reminder of their next six assignments...
