Manchester United takeover news live - Sir Jim Ratcliffe updates Erik ten Hag drops transfer hint

Manchester United might not have too much to spend during the January transfer window, unless their minority takeover deal headed-up by INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe offers them a cash injection.

Erik ten Hag dropped his first hint about mid-season plans after getting United back to winning ways on the field against Chelsea on Wednesday night. Scott McTominay scored both goals in a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

United welcome lowly AFC Bournemouth to the same iconic venue on Saturday afternoon for their next Premier League match (3pm). Ten Hag will have to check up on several injured players for that one, but promising forward Amad has returned to full training after a knee problem.

Summer signing Mason Mount (calf), Christian Eriksen (knee), Casemiro (hamstring), Raphael Varane (back), Tyrell Malacia (knee) and Lisandro Martinez (foot) all missed the Chelsea win. Ten Hag will most likely provide an update on those players during his pre-match press conference this afternoon.
