The FA Cup final defeat to Man City was a reminder of how big a job that will be, and in particular, it highlighted the three biggest issues that ideally need to be addressed in the coming months.

United's priority is to add an elite striker to their side this summer, with that being viewed as the one signing that could have the most transformative impact on the team.

Ten Hag has already held multiple video calls with Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, who is viewed as an attainable target with United operating under the assumption Tottenham will not sell Harry Kane.

The United manager is also keen on adding a young midfielder to his squad this summer, and personal terms have already been agreed with Mason Mount over a potential move.

It is understood Mount's representatives have held advanced discussions with United, but there is no agreement between the clubs on a fee yet.
