Manchester United's future owners must adopt Sir Jim Ratcliffe mindset

When it comes to Manchester United's takeover there is a common consensus among the fanbase - the Glazers' time is up.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, the club has fallen into disarray both on and off the pitch. Players and managers have come and gone yet many problems persist. The one constant has been the American owners at the top of United.

They have overseen a club drifting away from challenging for the Premier League title, and instead marking Champions League qualification as a success. For most clubs, this objective might be enough but United are not most teams. There is an expectation among fans regarding how the Reds should be competing and at the moment those goals are not being reached.

Bafflingly, the Glazers appear blind to the current predicament. While United are still one of the most profitable and well supported clubs on the planet, the owners appear complacent and disinterested about the lack of achievements over the last 10 years or so.

There seems to be no fire to push United forward, evidenced by the current state of Old Trafford. Currently, there are two main contenders pushing to buy the Reds.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani will have different ideas on how to run the club but whoever the winner is, Ratcliffe's recent interview with INEOS.TV, adopted the mindset required to bring success back to Old Trafford.

He said: "You can't really contemplate acquiring a brand like Manchester United and failing because the failure is just far too public and excruciating in a deal like that."
