Manchester United's competition to sign new goalkeeper this summer made clear

Manchester United could be rivalled by several Premier League teams in their reported pursuit of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

The Spain international has been a pivotal part of the Bees side that launched a surprise challenge for a European place this season. Raya, 27, was ever-present this season and kept an impressive 12 clean sheets as Thomas Frank’s side finished ninth.

United are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with David De Gea expected to play a lesser role next season if he does sign a new contract at Old trafford. When asked about his ambitions in February, Raya gave a clear answer: “I want to play in Europe and I want to fight to win a title,” he said. “I want to fight to win a European title. I trust myself to be able to play in those types of games.”
