Manchester United reaction will show Ratcliffe feelings as Ten Hag could drop key player

Manchester United will be looking to pick up where they left off when they return to Premier League action against Sheffield United tonight.

Erik ten Hag's side have experienced a tough start to the new season, with six defeats from their first 11 matches, but have shown signs of promise with their dramatic comeback victory over Brentford last time out.

United are heavy favourites to defeat a winless Sheffield United side at Bramall Lane, but they can't afford any complacency given their woeful track record away from home so far this season.

Rashford could be dropped

One of the toughest decisions for Ten Hag to make will be whether or not he selects players based on their club form or their international form.

Marcus Rashford and Casemiro do not deserve to play from the start based on their recent United performances, but both were improved when away with their respective nations earlier this week.

Casemiro was taken off at halftime with United a goal down against Brentford last time out, and Rashford only lasted an hour before he was replaced by Alejandro Garnacho.

That in itself begs the question of why they have been playing better at international level and gives Ten Hag plenty of food for thought when it comes to selecting his side tonight.

Ten Hag wasn't afraid to substitute them when they underperformed, and he shouldn't be afraid to drop players altogether either. His decision has been made for him on Casemiro with the player missing the game through injury but he has a tough one to make with Rashford.
