Manchester United vs Newcastle live highlights and reaction as United crash out of Carabao Cup

Manchester United must bounce back against Newcastle on Wednesday night after defeat in the Manchester derby. United were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City on Sunday evening and they return to action just three days later in the Carabao Cup, with a repeat of last season's final in the competition set to be played at Old Trafford.

The Reds won 2-0 against Newcastle thanks to goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford in that final at Wembley in February and whoever wins Wednesday's clash will be rewarded with a place in the quarter-finals.

Regarding team news, Aaron Wan-Bissaka returned to training ahead of the derby and is on the bench. Casemiro also returns to the fold after losing the race against time to be fit against City. Newcastle are also dealing with an injury crisis and will be without key players like Alexander Isak and Sven Botman and Harvey Barnes.

The technical director, Darren Fletcher, headed indoors with three minutes on the clock safe he would not be rounded on, so sparse were the rows of seats he passed.
