Manchester United 'pressing' to sign £22million World Cup winner and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have made contact with the agent of Antoine Griezmann ahead of a potential move, according to reports in Spain.

United have been linked with a January move for a new striker, with Erik ten Hag thought to be open to signing a more experienced option. The Dutchman badly needs more goals in his side but is also keen to alleviate the pressure on Rasmus Hojlund, who is yet to score in the Premier League.

Griezmann, 32, has been in outstanding form for Atletico Madrid this season, registering eight goals and one assist in 12 appearances. Last season, he racked up an impressive 15 goals and 16 assists in La Liga.

That form is bittersweet for Atletico who are enjoying his goals but concerned about interest from top European clubs. And according to Nacional, United are the main contenders for Griezmann's signature.

Ten Hag's side are thought to have already sent representatives over to the Spanish capital to speak to Griezmann's agent and are willing to triple his current salary. The report adds that Griezmann's current contract includes a release clause, thought to be just €25m (£22m).

Elsewhere, 90min reports that Jadon Sancho is not keen on a move to the Saudi Pro League in January.

The 23-year-old looks set to leave United after being frozen out of the first-team picture by Ten Hag in September. Saudi Arabian clubs were keen on the winger in the summer and will likely make another attempt to sign him mid-season.
