Manchester United new owners know there is an easy way to win over fans

It is going to be an important few days for Manchester United, both on and off the pitch.

Not only are they in action against Barcelona in the Europa League on Thursday night, but a day later marks the soft deadline for takeover proposals to be presented to the Glazer family.

These next few days could have a massive say on United's immediate and long-term future, and by the end of the week there could be greater clarity about who the next owners of the club could be.

It is suggested that any prospective buyers will need to submit a short paragraph outlining how much of the club they would like to buy and how much they'd be willing to invest before being granted access to more detailed information that will allow them to make detailed proposals.

United supporters will be divided over potential new owners, if any exist at all, but every fan should demand the same core principles of wiping out the club's debt, renovating the stadium and training ground, and investing in squads across all disciplines.

That final point is especially poignant for most fans, because it is the factor that will have the most direct impact on them as club consumers, regardless of whether they attend matches or not.

The harsh reality is that while a core demographic will feel passionately about the values of the club, there are plenty who will do anything as long as United are competitive on the pitch and in the transfer market.

It is particularly pertinent ahead of a summer in which United are looking to sign an elite forward and another top-class midfielder, something they currently seem unlikely to be able to do without a hefty cash injection.
