Manchester United might have to choose between three Ajax stars to sign this summer
Manchester United have already lured Erik ten Hag to Old Trafford so, of course, the expectation was that he would return to Ajax for some of his title-winning players. However, with Ryan Gravenberch and Sebastian Haller already being sold this transfer window and Noussair Mazraoui leaving on a free, the Dutch club are reluctant to part with any more of their stars.
This has been reflected in their asking price for many of United's targets. According to reports in Holland, centre-backs Lisandro Martinez and Jurrien Timber would cost between €50million and 60million while forward Antony would cost upwards of €70million.
The Manchester Evening News understands that Antony and Timber were both among Ten Hag's preferred targets this summer. It remains to be seen how Ajax's firm stance affects United's chances of landing the pair, after they tie up deals for Frenkie de Jong and Tyrell Malacia.

United had been heavily linked with a move for Timber and it seemed that they would secure a deal for their number one defensive target — but then enter Louis van Gaal. Now the Netherlands' manager, the Dutchman's rocky relationship with his former club is well documented and it seems his words have put a spanner in the works.
Though currently part of the national team setup, Van Gaal warned Timber that a move to United could put his World Cup spot at risk. Therefore it appears the Ajax defender has decided that he would be better served remaining in Amsterdam until after the competition at least as he is guaranteed a starting position.
Antony was also high on the list of Ten Hag's potential targets, but the price will be a sticking point for United
