Manchester United might have a perfect alternative to Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino

Manchester United are getting set for a huge summer in 2022.

Not only does the squad look set for another big overhaul but United will more than likely be looking to replace interim boss Ralf Rangnick too.

MEN Sport understands that there is a four-man shortlist for the soon-to-be vacant position. Erik ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique are the four men the hierarchy at Old Trafford are considering to take the club forward.

But if United are serious about being successful in the future, there really is only one option they can go for. Enrique.

His domestic accomplishments are second to none, having won the Champions League, La Liga, Copa Del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

That's not to mention how he achieved personal honours in the 2014/15 season when he was named the FIFA Best men's coach for his work at Barcelona.

It has also been reported that Cristiano Ronaldo is also keen on the current Spain boss joining the club and has suggested the appointment to the board. Enrique is a serial winner, something United have lacked in their two previous appointments, Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Enrique would command the respect of the United dressing room and it would be hard to imagine the more experienced players not listening to him.

Ten Hag would also be an interesting choice and he certainly knows how to get the best out of a certain Donny van de Beek but he lacks the 'big game' experience which Enrique possesses.

Julen Lopetegui only has a Europa League to his name but flopped at Real Madrid, though he might get the best out of Anthony Martial should they both come back to Manchester from Sevilla.
