Manchester United are well underway with their search for a new permanent manager after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November 2021.

Interim United manager Ralf Rangick oversaw an important 2-0 home win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night but he is set to move into a backroom role with a new man coming into the Old Trafford hot seat.

The MEN understands that PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax boss Erik ten Hag are the two currently in the frame for the position, with the club working to appoint a new manager before the end of the season.

Reports have suggested the Ajax boss is considering his future following the departure of Marc Overmars, who left as the Dutch giants’ director of football after a series of ‘inappropriate messages’ to female colleagues came to light.

Ten Hag broke his silence on the situation last week, saying:

Marc Overmars and me were definitely a strong duo. But to think about this now... it's not about me now. We need to process what happened.

I will start looking at the consequences. I won't think about my future now.
