Manchester United may not have solved crucial issue with Christian Eriksen transfer

Manchester United's transfer business is finally underway, much to the delight of the fanbase and likely Erik ten Hag. The club are set to confirm the signing of left-back Tyrell Malacia over the coming days and midfielder Christian Eriksen has agreed in principle to move to Old Trafford on a free transfer.

Malacia may not play a starting role initially, acting as a reliable deputy to Luke Shaw, but most fans expect that Eriksen will slip into the first team immediately. The Danish midfielder has heaps of Premier League experience having played for both Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford, but he also has the technical ability that Ten Hag will be looking for in his midfield.

One factor of Eriksen's game many United fans have been lauding is his dead ball ability. Over the course of his time in the Premier League, the 30-year-old has scored eight free-kicks but it is more his corner-taking ability that many fans are happy about.

United became infamous during the 2021/22 season for their inability to score from a corner, taking over 139 attempts to score their first one, which came against Leeds United thanks to a header from Harry Maguire. In many cases though, it wasn't so much the delivery from the likes of Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandes and Alex Telles (who racked up a few assists later in the campaign from them), but how the players attacked them in the box.

Nevertheless, fans are hoping that Eriksen will improve their set-pieces. But despite the midfielder's excellent passing ability, he is actually not that great a corner-taker.
