Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag holds calls with striker Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has held multiple video calls with Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund, 20, has been identified as an attainable target by Ten Hag with United operating under the assumption Tottenham will not sell Harry Kane.

Sources say the SEG International agency that represents Ten Hag are also trying to acquire Hojlund as a client.

Denmark international Hojlund has struck 15 goals in 41 games for Atalanta, having only moved to Italy from Austrian side Sturm Graz last year. He has plundered five goals in his last two games for Denmark.

Ten Hag last month admitted he had been in dialogue with potential targets when he said players were "keen" on joining United.

"I see a big difference in comparison with last year," Ten Hag said. "There were a lot of reservations last year when I spoke with players and now many players see the project, what's going on, the dynamic and the ambition in this project, the quality especially. They are really keen to come, I've noticed that.

"It looks like there were a lot of reservations last year, a lot of doubts when we approached players. This year, many quality players really want to come."

United are also continuing to monitor Eintracht Frankfurt goalscorer Randal Kolo Muani. Muani has scored 23 goals in 45 games for Eintracht, who finished seventh in the Bundesliga.

Eintracht and Atalanta both failed to qualify for the Champions League, which could ensure a smoother extraction for potential buying clubs. Muani and Hojlund are both under contract until 2027.

The Manchester Evening News reported in March United were keeping tabs on Hojlund and Muani.
