'I can see him at Manchester United' - Christian Eriksen gives verdict on striker transfer target

Christian Eriksen has hailed Manchester United target Rasmus Hojlund but admits he is yet to speak with Erik ten Hag about the Atalanta striker.

The midfielder also warned about the difficulties youngsters can face at Old Trafford due to the pressure of being at the club. United have held talks with Hojlund about a summer switch as they scout centre-forward alternatives to top target Harry Kane.

The 20-year-old scored 16 times last season, not including the five he scored in two Denmark appearances during March’s internationals. He is linking up with the national team again for this weekend’s Euro 2024 qualifiers alongside countryman Eriksen.

The United playmaker was very complimentary of his international teammate but could give no hint as to whether the Reds will end up making a bid.

“I can see him [Hojlund] at Manchester United, but I haven’t recommended him to Erik ten Hag,” Eriksen told Ekstra Bladet. “He is a fantastic guy and a good player and has really developed brilliantly at Atalanta. What the club ends up doing, I will not be able to answer.”

Eriksen finished his debut season at United with two goals and 10 assists, despite being ruled out of action between late January and April. He branded the Reds “the most unique” club he’s been at due to the spotlight they're under.

“It's a club where there's a huge amount of attention because everyone has an attitude towards Manchester United,” he added. ”I had tried a lot when I came to the club. So I knew a little bit about what size the club was.

“For younger players who come to the club, it can be really difficult, because the club is the size it is now.”

United are yet to submit a bid for Hojlund,
