Manchester United 'make progress' in Cody Gakpo talks and other transfer rumours

Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with PSV starlet Cody Gakpo.

Speculation over Gakpo's future with the Eredivisie giants continues to mount in the days leading up to the summer transfer window closing. United and fellow Premier League sides have until Thursday, September 1 at 11pm to finalise their summer business.

Casemiro is the latest player to sign for United this summer after Erik ten Hag struck up deals for Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez before switching his attention to other areas in the United squad. Gakpo, 23, would reportedly cost the club around £42million.

Reports in The Sun claim United have seen an initial £34million offer turned down for the Netherlands international as they continue to pursue his services. However, despite that setback, the same article states personal terms have now been agreed with the left-sided attacker.

United also want to sign Antony from Ajax, but moves for both players in the same window are unlikely. Gakpo has scored 45 goals and laid on 37 assists for PSV in 141 appearances for the Dutch club in all competitions.

Elsewhere, reports from 90min suggest United still want to bring in priority target Frenkie de Jong before the deadline a week on Thursday.

After missing out on a top-level central midfielder last summer, United initially wanted to pursue West Ham captain Declan Rice before turning to De Jong when Ten Hag was appointed as manager. However, as reported by the Manchester Evening News, complications in getting that deal over the line have been well-documented.
